How long should I wait to mow the lawn after a fertilizer application?

Your fertilizer application will not be impacted by mowing right after treatment; however, you may lose some of the weed control – Ideally wait 24 hours to mow for best results.

It rained after our application; will it still be effective?

Our professional slow release fertilizer is fine to be watered in, anytime. The weed control does need to stay on the plants for a while to be absorbed. If you notice weeds persisting after a week – please call and we would happily spot spray at no charge.

How long should I wait for my children & pets to go on my lawn?

This depends on what was applied – if it is a fertilizer only application or an organic application, they can play on your lawn immediately. If there was an insect or weed control applied, you would want to keep them off until dry – 2 to 4 hours on a sunny day; 6 to 8 hours on an overcast day. ALWAYS FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDATIONS LEFT BY OUR TECHNICIAN.

Can I seed in spring and still get a quality pre-emergent weed/crabgrass control?

Ideally, it is best to seed in fall, but of course that isn’t always practical. There are a few different ways you can still seed in spring. If you have a few bare areas in the lawn, we can apply a conventional crabgrass barrier and then you can top dress bare areas with a small amount of topsoil and seed on top of that. If you need to rejuvenate and seed the entire lawn, there is a special pre-emergent that can be applied over new seed. It isn’t quite as effective and it is a bit more costly but it is better than going without a pre-emergent.

My lawn has weeds, why didn’t your technician spray them in the early spring application?

Post-emergent weed controls are not as effective during cooler temperatures. We wait to apply weed control during the early summer application (May, June) to be sure to get optimum results.

How often should I water my lawn?

You want to water every other day at the most. Ideally, your lawn needs 1-2” of water a week between irrigation and rainfall.

When is the best time of day to water my lawn?

Early mornings are the best time to water your lawn. By doing so it will allow the water to soak down to the turfs roots and then the sun will come out and dry the foliage; which would help suppress ideal fungus conditions.

What is the proper mowing height?

You want to keep mow height between 2 ½” to 3”. By mowing the lawn shorter, your lawn will be more stressed and have a good chance of thinning.
